Scott Turner – Founder & Visionary
Scott is a lifelong Richmonder with a unique background that blends military discipline with scientific precision. 
After traveling the world for five years in the United States Navy (1989–1994) and subsequently earning a Master’s Degree in Physics from VCU, Scott realized his true passion was the natural world.
He founded True Timber in 1998 to protect our urban forests and later launched Riverside Outfitters to share his love of tree climbing and the James River. Recognized as a 2014 “River Hero” for his environmental stewardship, Scott brings a profound level of care to every project. When he isn’t working, he can be found running Richmond’s trails, reading, or enjoying the simple life with his wife and two daughters.
